Name: Kagaho
Canon: Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas
Canon Point: Ch. 179, after his death
Age: 18
History: Wiki
Personality:
More than anything else, Celestial Violence Star Bennu Kagaho is angry. Even in his quiet moments, there is a rage simmering within him that never truly goes away. He's angry at himself, at the world around him, at existence itself and it colors his self-perception and everything he does. His outlook on life is very nihilistic. There is no meaning to anything and nothing good within the world that should be preserved. This omnipresent emotion stems from the tragic loss of his brother and the helplessness Kagaho felt in that moment. Sui was his world and Kagaho had decided that there was no pain that he wouldn't endure to keep him safe and happy. However, Sui saw himself as a burden and knew that Kagaho was going to live a life a pain because of him and so chose to end his own life to free him of that suffering. Kagaho, however, lost himself to his despair, blamed only himself, and chased his brother's shadow not only until the end of his life, but into death and beyond that into reincarnation.
Sui's memory is at the core of everything Kagaho does. When he first appears in the story, Kagaho is presented as being fanatically devoted to Hades, saying that protecting him is the only thing that matters to him in life. As the story progresses, it becomes clear that it is not Hades the god that he is loyal to, nor is it the cause of the Holy War or anything of the sort. Kagaho knows that Alone, Hades's avatar, has retained his own mind and it is Alone that Kagaho has devoted himself to completely. Alone, who is a kind, pure-hearted boy who reminds Kagaho of Sui. It's Alone's vision of bringing the world together in the peace of death that Kagaho is willing to give his life for, but even more so it is Alone himself. Because of this, especially perceptive characters like Aldebaran and Dohko are able to sense that, underneath the burning flames of Kagaho's rage, there is no actual malice. No matter how much he speaks of his anger at the world, he can't hide the sorrow of a bereaved older brother and his kind heart that wishes to protect the ones he cares about.
Kagaho may be good at his core, but...that doesn't really change the fact that he's kind of an asshole. (This will not change in subsequent incarnations, either. It seems to be a permanent feature.) In a fight, he's arrogant and cocky. He's always running his mouth, taunting his opponent and explaining just how his attacks are going to do horrible damage to their body. He's a relentless fighter and it's made clear that he often does a not insignificant amount of damage to himself while trying to get at his opponents. Part of it stems from how tenacious a fighter he is and how driven he is to do what he believes he needs to do to keep Alone safe, but part of it is also his self-destructive nature. His safety doesn't matter, only Alone's, and Kagaho deserves anything he gets for how he's failed Sui in the past.
Off the battlefield, Kagaho out of his element. He hates crowds and big gatherings and loves to do the whole lean-against-the-wall-and-proclaim-everything-to-be-annoying act. Basically, he's a massive edgelord. The only person he shows any sort of respect for is Alone. He isn't necessarily at ease when it's just the two of them one-on-one and he's acting as bodyguard, but it's the most at ease we ever see him.
Abilities: Kagaho learned to fight on the streets and he's skilled at barehanded fighting even without any special abilities. As a Specter, he honed his abilities and gained strength and speed that surpasses that of a normal human. He's the fastest of all of Hades's army and relies on that to do brutal damage in combat. He has also cultivated his Seventh Sense, an innate ability to surpass what the human mind and body are capable of, usually for the purpose of harnessing one's Cosmo (the fundamental shounen manga bullshit life energy of this particular franchise) to deliver massively destructive attacks.
In the manga, Kagaho uses his Cosmo to create flame and wind attacks designed to burn enemy to ash and/or dehydrate them to death. Due to his canon point, there has been a fundamental change to the nature of his Cosmo and he's been left without his Surplice, which is magical armor that serves to channel and amplify his abilities. He'll still be able to manipulate wind and heat to produce flame, but not at the same level of power and he'll need to start from scratch to refine it into any sort of technique.
Strengths: Loyal, tenacious, protective, kindhearted, driven
Weaknesses: Arrogant, nihilistic, self-destructive, violent, angry
God/Shinki: Shinki
Why?: It's Kagaho's destiny to serve a god, whether he's living or dead. When his true, physical body dies in canon, he becomes a servant of Hades. When his spiritual body dies, it's a step towards reincarnating as a servant of Athena. Basically, he can't get away from this business.
Cause Of Death: Immolation in the upper atmosphere. In a battle with Libra Dohko, Dohko attempts a suicide attack by catapulting himself and Kagaho into the atmosphere. During the attack, Kagaho reflects on his life and makes peace with his death and fires a final Corona Blast to shake Dohko loose and send him back to earth. He then dies in a blaze of glory, his black flames changing color and form as his soul realizes its destiny as Athena's future Phoenix Saint.
Vessel: Black armored vambraces/gauntlets that resemble those from his Surplice
Name Location: On his chest, over his heart.
Power: Flame/Wind Generation. Similar to his own abilities, his vessel form can generate flame and wind to deliver heat-based attacks.
